1998年引入的母語教學政策,迫使300家中學轉用中文為教學語言。
The mother-tongue policy, introduced in 1998, forced 300 secondary schools to adopt Chinese as the language of instruction.


二零零一年後入行的英文和普通話教師,必須通過語文基準試。他們若要保留教職,就要在畢業後的首兩年內直接參加考試,或接受培訓,或申請豁免。
Those who started teaching English or Putonghua after 2001 had to meet the benchmark requirements by passing special tests, attending training courses or getting an exemption within two years to retain their job.


工作小組的成立證明政府銳意提升市民兩文三語水平。
The setting up of the working group shows that the government has placed a strong emphasis on improving bi-literacy [in Chinese and English] and trilingualism [in Cantonese, Putonghua and English] in the community.
